How To Get More Business Clients

If there’s one question I’m asked over and over again, it’s how to get clients. Whether you’re wondering how to get high net worth clients, how to get clients as a virtual assistant, how to get your first client, or just how to get more business clients in general, you’ll find that taking it back back to basics is the best way to grow your lead and client list.

Here are my tips that will help you land more clients, in both the short and long term.

How To Get More Business Clients For Your Small Business

Know Who Your Client Is

The first step to getting clients is knowing who they are. Who are you selling to? If you have no idea, you’re not going to have much luck convincing them to invest in your product or service. Before you do anything else, find out who your target audience and ideal client is. Sign up for my free Ideal Client Checklist to get started.

Develop a Sales Funnel

I know I know, the term ‘sales funnel’ can seem scary and completely unattainable. I promise you, it’s not! A sales funnel is one of those things that can be as complex or simple as you need it to be. It’s just a way for you to manage your leads and turn them into paying customers. Start out with a simple Opt In on your website. An Opt In can be an e-book, checklist, or discount code that provides value to your ideal client, all for the low price of their email. You now have an email list, to which you can send promotional emails that drive sales, aka the start of a simple sales funnel. You can now expand on this, add ads and social media into the mix, and grow your sales funnel from there.

Don’t Underestimate Word of Mouth

For most business owners, our first clients are found through networking. Friends, relatives, old workmates and bosses can all act as fantastic referrals, as long as you let them know what you’re selling. Spread the word about your business, what you do, the problems you solve, and the type of people you can help. You’ll be surprised at the number of warm leads you could get.

Research, Research, and More Research

Once you know who your target audience and ideal client is, it’s time to learn everything you can about them. Find out where they spend their time online and how they like to spend money. Do they appreciate a personal connection with a brand or prefer sheer practicality? Hang out in their Facebook groups and conduct some market research on a volunteer basis. It’s not only a great way to get to know your target audience but also gives you the opportunity to meet potential clients.

Be Findable

In this techy age where all knowledge is on demand, there is no bigger red flag for a consumer than a business that doesn’t have an online presence. If you’re looking up how to get more business clients and you don’t even have a website, we have a problem. Investing in a search engine optimised website will likely be worth it for your business. It means potential customers can find you through just a quick Google search.

It also helps to have your socials sorted out. I recommend Facebook and Instagram to start and move on to wherever your clients hang out. You don’t need to be everywhere online, just the networks your clients frequently use. For me, Pinterest is my jam, while Twitter isn’t quite my clients’ wheelhouse. The objective here is to simply make sure you’re findable by your ideal client.
