Running a business is hard. When it comes to growing a sustainable and profitable business, there are so many variables that come into play. There is also a lot of noise on the internet, promising you the ‘secrets to business success’ hidden in lengthy ‘business podcasts, free of charge!’ A lot of that information is just… well… shit.
Instead of complaining, I thought I would take action. I am in the unique and privileged position of knowing so many amazing, insightful, and successful business owners who actually know their stuff. Why not share their knowledge and mine with business owners all over the world? Thus, I created a free business podcast: The Business and Life Conversations Podcast.
At the time of writing this blog, I just released episode 103. That’s 103 weeks, every week, releasing a podcast that will help business owners like you grow.
The Business and Life Conversations Podcast
The Business & Life Conversations Podcast is a hub of business and life conversations that will inspire you. Whether you’re just starting your business or are an established business owner, the intention of the podcast is to help your business grow with useful information from leaders in business.
The real-life entrepreneurs and business badasses that I get on the podcast are chosen by me for one reason. They know what they’re talking about and have information that could help you grow your business. We chat about everything from business strategies and successes to their own motivations, failures, struggles, and mental health. I also love to throw in a solo episode here and there to share valuable business lessons that I have learned that can expand your business and life.
After 103 episodes I have collected 10 of my favourites. These 10 are perfect starting points if you want to learn a little bit about the basics of business.
My top 10 episodes
We all have fears in business, and yours could be what is holding you back from success. In this episode, I am joined by the lovely Denise Duffield-Thomas, a business powerhouse and money mindset mentor. She takes us through the types of fear that hold us back and how to overcome it on our way to business success.
This is a solo episode I recorded because somebody in business had to. There are a few things that many entrepreneurs go through and, unfortunately, nobody talks about them! I tell you exactly what they are and how to get through them.
Another solo episode of mine that I absolutely love is To Niche or Not to Niche. Niching is a term that is so often thrown around in business. This inspires so many business owners to niche down without knowing why or how. Let me break it down for you in this episode.
Coaches, consultants, mentors and masterminds. What’s the difference and why do you need any of them? In this episode, I break down exactly what a business coach is and why you might need one. I also talk at length about how to find the right business coach for you, flagging the classic mistakes that people make when hiring a coach for their business.
If you’re considering hiring a business coach or consultant and you want to get a feel for what it will be like, look no further. This is one of my favourite episodes because I bring in one of my actual coaching clients, Jessie King, to talk through the experience of business coaching from the client’s perspective. We chat about her growth and struggles as a business owner and give you a sneak peek into what an average coaching session looks like.
Does running your business feel like you’re on a neverending treadmill? Chances are you’re spending too much time working IN your business, and not enough time working ON it. This solo episode is super valuable as I break down the distinction between working IN and ON your business and how doing more of the latter will change your business life.
I have attended quite a few business retreats in my time. There have been great ones and not so great ones, but each one has taught me something and I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be where I am without some of them. In this episode, I break down some of my experiences to give you a taste of what women in business retreats are like and if they’re right for you.
Have you been considering joining a business mastermind? Perhaps you have just felt alone in business lately, or need some like-minded business owners to bounce ideas off of. This episode is all about masterminds, how to find one, why you might want to join one, and the positive impact they can have on your business.
Alright alright, so this might not be the most exciting topic on the list, but trust me, it may just be the most important! So many business owners push aside the thought of legal documents and insurance. I get it – it’s boring and downright overwhelming. That’s why I invited Melissa Donaldson from Allsure Insurance on to break down the insurance basics for business owners so that you know you’re covered.
The last podcast on my favourites list is here because so many business owners get this wrong. I don’t want you to do the same. My guest Lesley Clavijo and I chat about email lists and why just having one isn’t enough. If you want to learn how to turn your email list into sales from a successful business owner, check this one out.
Choosing just ten of my favourites for this list was tough. After creating over 100 business podcasts, free of charge, I have had some truly awesome conversations with some truly awesome people. To check out all episodes, head to Business and Life Conversations with Angela Henderson.
