In this episode, I introduce myself and talk about my life, interests, family, businesses, and the challenges I’ve gone through to get to where I am now. I also give you a glimpse of what the Business & Life Conversations podcast is all about and what we can expect from these interesting conversations to help us grow in life and business.

What’s up and welcome to episode zero of the ‘Business and Life Conversations’ podcast with me, your host, Angela Henderson from Angela Henderson Consulting.

Hey there, you’re listening to the ‘Business and Life Conversations’ podcast. My name is Angela Henderson and on this show we talk about improving your business, life or both by having amazing and rich conversations with brilliant guests. Who will inspire you and who will give you tips and tricks to help you grow both in life and in business.

I am super excited because this is the episode that I get to share with you, my vision for the ‘Business and Life Conversations’ podcast. Let you know a little bit about me, what to expect with the podcast and a few other fun facts. I love conversations, conversations for me are food for the soul. It’s where magic begins, it’s where relationships are built, it’s where businesses grow. I love bringing people together through conversations and being able to provide useful information, tips or tricks that will help them to improve their business, life or both. And hence why I created this podcast ‘Business and Life Conversations’ with Angela Henderson.

If you’re new to me, and wondering, “Who the heck is this Angela Henderson?” Let me start by telling you a little bit about me, before we jump into the business side of things. I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I am a proud Canadian. Like, really proud. So proud that more days than not, you’ll find me wearing my ‘keep calm and be Canadian’ hoodie or as the Aussies call it a ‘jumper’. And even though I live in Brisbane, Australia; home will always be Canada.

Some fun facts about me, I love Nutella. In fact, you can find me eating Nutella straight from the jar. Nutella’s my go-to fix that can solve almost any problems I’m having. In addition to eating Nutella straight from the jar, I also love the colour pink. Pink is such a fun and vibrant colour and when you add glitter to the mix, it equals all levels of awesomeness. Yes, awesomeness is a word.

I’m married to a Tasmanian, now don’t hold that against me and I also have two delightful kids, Finley John, my almost nine year old who is full of energy, loves sport and his brain goes as quickly as mine does. And my beautiful daughter, Chloe Glenella, who is five years old, is super creative, kind and just a nurturing, beautiful soul.

Now, you may be listening and thinking to yourself, “That’s great Ange that you love eating Nutella straight from the jar but what qualifies you as a person to speak on the topics of business?” Let me explain. I created my first business almost eight years ago, shortly after my son, Finley was born. I was sick and tired of buying toys from the major stores to only have them break on me or to be battery operated. So I created my first business Finley and Me, a business that focuses on creating childhood memories through play, love and travel by providing over 1400 different products that stimulate imagination, creativity, working on fine and gross motor skill development but ultimately creating childhood memories through play.

In addition to having the products, I also created a blog as a part of my overall business strategy and currently I am one of Australia’s top parenting bloggers, working with brands such as but not limited to, Netflix, P&O Cruises, ClubMed, Spotlight and many more. And through the success of Finley and Me, people started to pick my brain. They started to ask could they buy me a cup of coffee and I was doing this anywhere from five to ten times a month. And then I realised, if I charge people for my expertise, I could make a second business. And thus, Angela Henderson Consulting was born.

I am now a business consultant where I help business owners to develop the foundational business framework they need to leverage their business for future growth and success. Now, let me give you an analogy to keep it simple. Most of you would know the story of the three little pigs. I do, it was one of my favourite books growing up as a child. You know, the three pigs; one has a house of hay, the other has a house of sticks and the other has a house of bricks. Most businesses that come to me, their business is currently like the house made of hay or sticks; it wouldn’t take much for their business to fall over or even have to close up shop. So when people work with me, I work with them to go back to the basics. To get their foundations laid correctly and to create a business made of bricks. So even if they have a bad month, their business is still solid and won’t fall over and collapse.

The story that I’ve told you so far, may sound like I have it all, but my life rocks. But this is the polished story you’ve heard up till now. The other part of this story is almost two years ago, I hit rock bottom. I almost lost my businesses, compromised my family and friends because my depression and anxiety. There were days where I cried, I could hardly get out of bed and had thoughts about whether or not I would stay on this planet we call Earth. I share this story because it’s important you know me as a person, and not just parts of me. That you know I’m a person who wears my heart on my sleeve. I would much rather you get to know the full Angela Henderson right from the beginning than to be surprised later on. So, if you can love me for the unpolished story, then I would love for you to stick around.

Enough about me and back to the ‘Business and Life Conversations’ podcast. What can you expect? The ‘Business and Life Conversations’ podcast is going to be all about having rich conversations with brilliant business owners, both men and women about all things business and life. Some days these conversations will just include me, while other days I’ll have guests on the show. My focus is not going to be getting people who strictly have six and seven figure businesses, but rather having a blend of business owners on all journeys of business.

I believe we can learn from each other regardless of where we’re at in business and it will be through these conversations we will walk away with actual things we can be doing to help improve our business or life, to be inspired or to inspire others. But most importantly, I want you to feel part of a community. I’m super excited to see where this podcast goes, not only for me but also for you. It’s going to be a journey of learning and growth through conversations and I’m so glad you’re coming along on this journey with me.
